 An after-school writing center

for students in grades 6–12

Hours:
Mondays: 3:30-5:30 pm
Tuesdays: 3:00-5:00 pm
Wednesdays: 3:30-5:30 pm

15 to 18 spots available each session

The Word Lab begins in early October of the academic year. Initially funded in part by a $20K grant from the National Writing Project’s Innovator Challenge Grant, The Word Lab currently operates as part of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, serving grades 6-12 in an after-school program where students work on their writing with the assistance of community writing mentors. The Chamber of Heart and Mystery is located next door to the Word Lab.

Schools participating during the 2018-2019 academic year are:

Branciforte Middle School – Mondays
Mission Hill Middle School – Tuesdays
Santa Cruz and Harbor High Schools – Wednesdays

Session Dates:

Session 1: October 8 – December 12
Session 2: January 14 – March 13
Session 3: March 25 – May 30
