An after-school writing center

for students in grades 6–12

Hours: 3-5pm Monday and

Tuesday, 3:30-5:30pm Wednesday

15 to 18 spots available each session

The World Lab begins in early October of the academic year. Initially funded in part by a $20K grant from the National Writing Project’s Innovator Challenge Grant, The Word Lab currently operates as part of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, serving grades 6-12 in an after-school program where students work on their writing with the assistance of community writing mentors. The Chamber of Heart and Mystery is located next door to the Word Lab.

Schools participating during the 2018-2019 academic year are:

Branciforte Middle School – Mondays
Mission Hill Middle School – Tuesdays
Santa Cruz High School – Wednesdays

Session Dates:

Session 1: October 8th – December 12th
Session 2: January 14th – March 13th
Session 3: March 25th – May 30th
